Legal

A link is not a free pass

People ask whether saving a TikTok is legal. The useful answer is narrower than yes or no. This site performs a lookup on a URL, or on a username for current stories. It does not decide copyright, and this page is not legal advice for your country or your clip. If you need a ruling, ask a lawyer who can look at the actual post.

What the tool is doing

You paste a link that already exists on TikTok. The server asks a lookup for the file addresses tied to that post. Those addresses may include a standard video, a separate HD video, a separate watermarked video, and audio. Photo posts may include stills. The browser then saves a file the lookup named. We do not log into an account, scrape a private profile, or hand you a ZIP of someone’s uploads. Stories are limited to what is still for one username, on the stories page.

None of that transfers ownership. The person who shot the clip, the person who wrote the music, and anyone else with a right in it still have those rights after the file lands in your downloads folder. A watermark, or the lack of one, does not change that. The no-watermark page only explains when a clean MP4 button exists. It is not a way to erase credit, and the clean file is often missing.

Uses that are your problem to justify

Keeping a copy of your own post is a different situation from saving a stranger’s viral clip and uploading it to another platform. Schools, newsrooms, and reviewers sometimes have their own rules for quotation or commentary. Those rules depend on where you live and on how much you use. This site will not tell you that your plan is fair use, fair dealing, or allowed. The terms put the responsibility on the person who pastes the link: posts you are allowed to save, and not private, leaked, or otherwise unauthorized media.

Commercial songs inside a TikTok are a common trap. An MP3 button on the MP3 page means an audio URL was returned, not that the track is free to reuse as a ringtone, an ad, or a soundtrack. If you do not have a license, do not republish the sound.

What we refuse

Private accounts, deleted posts, and posts hidden in a region stop at the lookup. There is no bypass. A rights holder can ask us to block a video id or a username. The contact address is on the contact page, and the request should include the id or @name plus a way to show you control the rights. Blocked items fail on purpose. Please do not send a list of links you simply dislike. That is not a takedown.

We also do not offer an editor, a bulk username archive, text-to-speech, or a guaranteed HD or 4K master. Those absences are product limits, described in the FAQ, not loopholes. The Android package and the desktop extension open the same tool. They do not add a private mode. Phone steps on iPhone and Android, and the PC guide, are about saving a file your browser already retrieved.

If a download fails, the not-working page is the right next stop. If you are unsure you may keep the file, do not publish it while you decide. The privacy page explains the small amount of request data the server sees. TikTokDownload.io is not affiliated with TikTok or ByteDance. Their names appear here only so you know which links the box accepts.
